01 Orientation
St. Petersburg sits on the Pinellas peninsula, which means water on two sides and a genuinely different daily geography from Tampa. The downtown core is compact and walkable in a way little else in the region is. Away from the centre, the housing stock turns to bungalows, mid-century homes and a substantial number of condominiums, particularly near the water.

They are genuinely different propositions rather than better or worse. St. Pete offers a more compact, walkable core and quicker access to Gulf beaches. Tampa offers a larger and more varied housing market and shorter access to the airport and the interstate network. The honest answer usually comes from where you need to be during the week and what property type you want.
It can be, but a condo purchase is really two purchases: the unit and a share of the association. Ask for the budget, the reserve position, minutes from recent meetings and any assessments voted or pending. That is the part that most affects your actual cost of ownership.
